Arrive in Kathmandu

A representative from DTS will meet you whenever you arrive at the Kathmandu airport (TIA). You will then be taken to the hotel. Following check-in, you are welcome to visit our office or rest. To expose you to Nepalese cuisine and culture, you will be served delicious, real Nepalese food for supper.

DAY 02 TRIP | Travel with DTS INDIA

Visit Boudhanath, Boudha & Kapan Monastery

One of the biggest stupas in the world and a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site is the Boudhanath Stupa, which we visit today. the 108 Buddha statues positioned in the recesses surrounding the enormous building, as well as the distinctive octagonal Mandala pattern with hundreds of prayer wheels. Known as "Little Tibet," the Boudhnath region is renowned for its more than fifty Tibetan gompas, or monasteries. Another name for the Kapan Monastery is the Nepal Bouddhist Mahayan Centre. The Khachoe Ghakyil Ling Nunnery, which houses around 400 nuns, is another nunnery close to the main monastery.

Visit Swoyambhunath & Drive to Pokhara

We begin the day with a journey to Swoyambhu Stupa, a prominent Buddhist pilgrimage site and one of the world's oldest Buddhist structures, dating back more than two millennia. According to mythology, Swoyambhu, which translates to "the self-existent," is the origin of Kathmandu Valley civilization. According to legend, Bodhisattva Manjusri was traveling when he stumbled upon a lovely lake and noticed a lotus with a thousand golden petals, lapis lazuli stalks, diamond pistils, and ruby anthers. Following our visit to Swayambhunath, we travel for six hours to Pokhara in the afternoon to explore some of the local Buddhist sites.

Pokhara: World Peace Pagoda

Today, we take in the splendor of nature while also touring some of Pokhara's Buddhist sites. Situated on a narrow ridge high above Phewa Tal, the World Peace Pagoda is a huge Buddhist stupa built by Buddhist monks from the Japanese Nipponzan Myohji organization. Before hiking to the Stupa, we take a boat over Phewa Lake. Next, we'll go to the Malepatan Gomba, which is a monastery in Malepatan. Following the Cultural Revolution in China, we trek once more to Hyangja, the location of the Tibetan refugee camp. It is possible to sample Tibetan cuisine, shop for interesting items, and learn about Tibetan culture.

Drive to Lumbini

Today, it takes us around 6-7 hours to drive 290 kilometers southwest from Pokhara to Lumbini. Pokhara is where we say farewell to the Himalayas and begin our journey into the relatively level Terai region of Nepal. The plains often experience hot, muggy weather, with the exception of winter. The location where Buddha was born, Lumbini, is arguably the most significant Buddhist pilgrimage destination. We can have a stroll in the local market to get a taste of the way of life if we get in Lumbini about dusk.

Full Day Explore Lumbini

Lumbini is one of the most important historical, architectural, and religious sites in the world. Today's focus is on seeing as many Lumbini locations and landmarks as we can. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the region is rather large and contains monuments, temples, and historic structures. We begin with a visit to the Mayadevi temple, which was constructed on the site of Buddha's naissance. Additionally, we travel to the peace pagoda and museum. Among Lumbini's significant landmarks and monuments are Ashoka's Pillar, which was built by Emperor Ashoka in 249 BC on the site of Buddha's birth and includes Nepal's earliest inscription.

DAY 07 TRIP | Travel with DTS INDIA

Drive back to Kathmandu

Our Buddhist Cultural Tour is coming to a conclusion. Today, we make the approximately 300-kilometer trek back toward Kathmandu over the twisting mountain route. Around six to seven hours would pass throughout the trip. You will be taken to your hotel when you arrive in Kathmandu. The only thing left to do is exchange emails with other travelers and arrange the pictures. We will celebrate the successful conclusion of our tour with a goodbye supper at The Ship Restaurant Bar & Lounge, where we may choose from a professionally curated menu with many options.Stay the night in Kathmandu.

Departure - Travel Home

We really hope you had a good time on our tour and that you will return to the Himalayas at some point. A representative from DTS will take you to the airport around three hours before to your planned departure. You'll have plenty of time on the way home to organize your future trip to the stunning nation of Nepal.
